The Chicago Bears have signed veteran wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud on Monday, according to the NFL's transaction wire.
McCloud, a former sixth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2018, has spent time with the Bills (2018-20), Carolina Panthers (2019), Pittsburgh Steelers (2020-21), San Francisco 49ers (2022-23), Atlanta Falcons (2024-25) and most recently the New York Giants (2025).
He's primarily served as a punt and return specialist, including leading the NFL in punt return yards with the Steelers in 2021. McCloud totaled a career-best 38 punts for 367 yards, averaging 9.7 yards per return. He also added 35 kickoff returns for 776 yards, also a career high.
McCloud's best offensive showing came with the Falcons in 2024, where he totaled 62 receptions
for 686 yards and one touchdown in 17 games with 13 starts. Last season with the Giants, he had just one reception for five yards in two games with one start.
The addition of McCloud comes after injuries to receivers Luther Burden III and rookie Zavion Thomas. While Thomas is day-to-day and not expected to miss much time with a knee injury, Burden is expected to be sidelined the entire preseason and ready in time for Week 1.
