The Chicago Bears were the third team to get into the NFL trading frenzy this week, just days after the Indianapolis Colts shipped out two of their franchise cornerstones in two separate deals.
Indianapolis traded defensive tackle DeForest Buckner back to the San Francisco 49ers and also sent guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, which was then followed up by the Bears trading for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a deal with the Tennessee Titans.
Simmons, who is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, joins Chicago at a unique time in their schedule, as he will be matched up against Nelson as both men could join their new teams ahead of the Monday Night Football showdown between Seattle and Chicago.
Ironically
enough, the two players met just two weeks ago when Nelson was a member of the Colts and Simmons was with the Titans, with Simmons able to get past the All-Pro play of Nelson.

It'll be interesting to see how Seattle decides to roll out Nelson as they acquired him earlier in the week, and what Chicago will do with Simmons as they meet in prime time on Monday night. Both players will provide a significant boost to their respective teams, in a matchup that will be a telling sign of where both Seattle and Chicago are in the NFC playoff race, with many analysts believing the Bears acquiring Simmons is a major swing towards a Super Bowl championship.
Simmons and Nelson are no strangers to one another, and it would be very unique and intriguing to see how they play for their new teams on short-notice if they're put out on the field.
