Although he's currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the energy and optimism around Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is real.
Williams set a franchise record for most passing yards in a single season and led the team to the playoffs last year, and with that, has made many believers around the league including a former Bears great receiver, Alshon Jeffery. Earlier this week, Jeffery, who played for both organizations, was a guest on "Good Morning Football" and praised the future of Williams in Chicago.
"I feel like the sky's the limit for him," Jeffery said. "He hasn't even reached his peak. I feel like in Year 4 or 5, he's really going to have the league on fire. Him and Ben (Johnson), the chemistry, the team, I feel like he's relentless.
He's just even keel, he doesn't care what you say about me, what the score is, I believe I can win. Give me the ball, let me make the play, we're in Chicago, like Michael Jordan."
The comparison to Michael Jordan would be fitting if Williams can bring Super Bowl championships, which would ignite the city of Chicago to another level. There's a long way to go for Williams to live up to that caliber of championship that Jordan brought, but it's clear that he's already got the respect of some of Chicago's best players, like Jeffery.
