While being viewed as a player-coach and QB3 on the Chicago Bears roster, veteran Case Keenum has gotten plenty of time to learn and connect with head coach Ben Johnson.
That connection was quite obvious in the Monday Night Football win over the Philadelphia Eagles, where Keenum shined, throwing for 247 yards, two touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown, but he gave all the credit to his head coach.
Speaking to ESPN after the game, Keenum said Johnson was "cooking" in his game plan against the Eagles, which made it easier for him to operate the offense.
"I don't know, I really don't have any words," Keenum told Laura Rutledge. "There's so much emotion, so much that went into this week. Ben Johnson was cooking tonight, he's in his bag. The guys made
huge plays down the field, O-line worked their tails off. Golly, we responded and it was so much fun. All glory to God. I'm not here without Him, He's made me for this. I love this city. This Texas boy loves Chicago, and this is a cool spot."
Johnson certainly made his impact felt in the Week 3 win, as it was the first time in his career as an offensive coordinator or head coach in which he didn't coach a quarterback who was drafted No. 1 overall. Keenum's performance was one to remember, but he wanted to make sure to give the credit to Johnson as well.
