The long-term future of Chicago Bears right tackle Darnell Wright is a hot topic at the start of training camp this year, with both general manager Ryan Poles and Wright himself expressing a desire to get a deal done.
Earlier this week as the team broke camp, Poles said he'd like to get a contract done and get the focus back to football, which would be beneficial for all parties involved, including for Wright, who's entering the final year of his rookie deal.
Speaking to the media after practice on Friday, Wright didn't appear to have much concern about getting a deal done with the team, saying he plans to be in Chicago for the long haul.
"I’ll be on the Bears for a long time," Wright said. "It doesn’t really matter to me (when it gets done)."
Wright has really come into his own at the right tackle position, cementing himself as one of the best in the NFL while becoming a franchise cornerstone for the Bears. In 2025, Chicago brought in Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson and recently retired Drew Dalman in what was a massive makeover to the offensive line. While there will be a new center this season and a battle at left tackle, Wright plans to make a long-term home in Chicago.
