The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a key NFC North showdown against the Green Bay Packers, but they'll be without running back Kyle Monangai.
Monangai is dealing with a toe injury that will keep him sidelined in Week 5, according to head coach Ben Johnson. His toe injury is a bigger concern than initially believed, and Monangai saw a specialist and is currently in a walking boot.
"We'll see how long that injury sidelines him," Johnson said.
On Thursday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Monangai is dealing with a turf toe injury that has made his availability uncertain for the next 1-2 weeks. Fowler noted that Monangai was "hoping to play through it," but unfortunately he won't see the field this Sunday.
In last week's win over the New York Jets,
Monangai had a career day with 30 carries for 146 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per carry, and two touchdowns as part of a dominant rushing attack that totaled 232 yards against one of the NFL's best run defenses.
Now, it'll be D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson carrying the workload at running back, where they'll face one of the worst run defenses in the NFL when they battle the Packers.
