Bears fans clamoring for this former HC to join staff

The Chicago Bears are in Nashville for a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday ahead of their preseason finale that takes place Saturday, and a former AFC head coach is attending as a guest of Ben Johnson.

Sean McDermott, who was the Buffalo Bills head coach from 2017 through 2025, is a guest of the Bears and is spending time with Johnson. McDermott, who has a defensive background, was one of the more successful coaches over the last decade with the Bills, compiling a record of 98-50 with eight playoff appearances and eight postseason victories.

Though Johnson and McDermott never worked together professionally, it seems there is a mutual respect between the two. And it never hurts to get insight from outside voices who have plenty

of experience. But when fans realized McDermott was visiting, they began calling for him to join the coaching staff in some capacity.
