Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai suffered in a parent right knee injury during Sunday’s training camp practice.
According to Sean Hammond, got tangled up with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and both players went to the ground in a non-padded practice.
Adam Hoge added: “They were not wearing pads today and Grady seemed to realize it mid-tackle, attempting to hold Monangai up at the end. He clearly felt bad.”
Trainer Andre Tucker tested Monangai’s knee on the field and then both walked off together, and there was no need for a cart. But Hoge noted that “Monangai was walking very gingerly.”
The Bears have battled injuries throughout the first few weeks of training camp. Monangai is the latest in a list that includes defensive end Montez Sweat,
safety Coby Bryant, wide receiver Luther Burden and Braxton Jones, who recently returned to practice.
The hope is Monangai’s injury is nothing serious with less than a month until the regular season kickoff against the Carolina Panthers.
