The Chicago Bears had their worst showing of the season in an embarrassing 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, which snapped a two-game winning streak and sent Chicago to 3-2 on the season.
The Bears committed five turnovers, including turnovers on four straight possessions late in the second half, while being held to a single touchdown. The defense allowed Packers quarterback Jordan Love to carve them up with a lack of pressure and injury-riddled secondary, which included allowing six plays of 30-plus yards. It was easily the worst showing under Ben Johnson since he took over as head coach last season.
Following the game, Johnson told ESPN 1000 that "we got punched in the face," but he also shared his overall message to reporters about how this
one loss doesn't define the season or the team.
"I believe in this coaching staff, I believe in our players and I believe in our process," Johnson said. "So, the process doesn't change. The process doesn't change. It's Week 5. I know we'll respond the right way. We got the right guys in this building."
The Bears will face the Atlanta Falcons on the road next Sunday, where the hope is that quarterback Caleb Williams will be able to return for the first time in four games after his hamstring injury in Week 2. The Falcons present a difficult challenge for this Chicago team, especially with stud running back Bijan Robinson. But the Bears have an opportunity to answer this deflating loss in a big way before three straight prime-time games.
