With all the weapons that the Chicago Bears have available to them on the offensive side of the ball, the tight end group may be one of the deepest and most intriguing.
With second-year star Colston Loveland, veteran Cole Kmet, and rookie Sam Roush leading the way, the Bears have three different types of skillset atop the depth chart, and they all come with great knowledge for one another.
A third-round pick out of Stanford in the 2026 NFL Draft, Roush is expected to make an impact as a blocking tight end, but could also find his way into the passing game, similar to Kmet. Recently, the rookie praised the veteran for his attention to detail and how he approaches the game.
"He’s super detail oriented," Roush said. "It’s been really cool to watch
him go through his process. He’s doing like an hour-long warmup before practice which is pretty impressive that he is able to come in and do it every single day. It’s been great. He’s a guy that does it the right way. And it’s awesome to be in a room with guys like Cole and Colston (Loveland) and be on the team with a lot of really great players. That greatness rubs off as long as you’re subscribing to the culture and continuing to get closer to guys."
All three tight ends will have their own roles coming into the 2026 season, but Roush has two great leaders to learn from ahead of him in Kmet and Loveland. In terms of the passing game, Loveland has been a name that many analysts and fantasy football personalties have checked off as a key player to watch this season, expecting a big-time breakout from him.
