Chicago Bears fans have been put through the wringer during Thursday night's game against the New England Patriots, where anything and everything has gone wrong despite holding a lead for the entire game.
With the Bears primed to take a two-score lead with eight minutes left, kicker Cairo Santos had a brutal miss on a 53-yard field goal with eight minutes left to keep the Patriots in the game. Not only did Santos miss, but his kick doinked off the right crossbar, bringing back ugly memories of the "Double Doink," where Cody Parkey missed a 43-yard field goal that would've sent the Bears to a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card playoffs in Jan. 2019.
Amazon Prime proceeded to rub salt in the wound by showing a highlight of the "Double
Doink," where Al Michaels was on the call. Naturally, there was plenty of reaction to the play itself and Prime's airing of the clip.
Luckily, Santos' miss didn't cost the Bears as the defense got a stop on the ensuing possession. And Santos later redeemed himself with a career-long 58-yard field goal to put Chicago up nine points with less than two minutes left in the game.

#Bears offense stalls at the 35 & Cairo Santos hits the upright on the 53-yard attempt.

It’s time to have a kicker conversation.

And now we might have a Cairo Santos problem.

Off the right upright from 53 yards.
It might be time to end the Cairo Santos era in Chicago.

In a time where so many NFL teams are easily nailing kicks from 50+ yards, you can’t haven’t someone who’s consistently a liability like this from long distance. #Bears
I hate the doink sound

The Bears chances at a two-score lead, doinked away

Amazon airing the double doink right now is easily the worst thing that company has ever done. Guillotines for all of them.

every doink triggers my ptsd.

Did they really think it was necessary to replay the double doink and laugh at it?
— m (@downbadbears) October 23, 2026
There’s no other team in the League that replays the “DOINK!” audio like they do with us 🙂
— SikWitIt 😈😷 (@_sikwitit) October 23, 2026
“In the home of the double doink…” ENOUGH!!!
— Maddie Hartley (@madelynnhartley) October 23, 2026
