Just two days after releasing him as part of the team's roster cuts to build its initial 53-man roster, the Detroit Lions are re-signing veteran tight end Tyler Conklin.
CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news of Conklin's return. Conklin joins a tight end group for the Lions that includes Sam LaPorta, Brock Wright and Jackson Meeks.
Across his eight-year NFL career, Conklin has appeared in 127 games with 69 starts, recording 270 receptions for 2,645 yards and 11 touchdowns during stops with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Los Angeles Chargers.

With Conklin back, the 31-year-old gives Detroit another experienced option and added depth at a position that new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing loves to utilize.
