After Detroit's 31-24 win over the New York Jets on Sunday at Ford Field, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn expressed gratitude for his friendship with Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Glenn, who is in his second season at the helm in New York, took the Jets' head coaching job after serving as Detroit's defensive coordinator under Dan Campbell from 2021-24. During his four-season tenure with the Lions, Detroit's defense gradually improved year after year, despite injuries testing the unit's depth almost every campaign.
"It's almost like déjà vu from when we first started. And listen, all those guys, from (Jared) Goff, like, man, this team is different. This is not the team of last year, and we should be different. I love him to death. I do. I mean, he's
a huge part of how I've grown within this league. But this was a tough one for us," Glenn said of coaching against Campbell and the Lions.

In Campbell's postgame media availability, he reciprocated the respect for his counterpart, praising New York's effort, which he said embodies Glenn's intensity.
"I'm going to start with this. Man, that team, that team gave us all we could handle there. They played hard. They take on the identity of that coach, which is a credit to him. I know what that's like being on the other side of that, but hold their head high. Those guys play hard and they had a chance there at the end," Campbell said.
While the Lions came out victorious against the Jets, New York has clearly shown its commitment to the brand of football Glenn wants to carry into every game, which he developed under Campbell during his time in the Motor City.
