Lions injury update: DB Avonte Maddox exits vs. Bills, questionable to return

The Detroit Lions (1-0) are in the midst of a buzzsaw at the Buffalo Bills (1-0) on Thursday night.

In the first-ever game at the new Highmark Stadium, the Bills have opened up an early 21-0 lead over the Lions. Adding to the Lions' frustration is the loss of defensive back Avonte Maddox.

Maddox exited with a foot injury early in the second quarter. The Lions have tabbed Maddox as questionable to return.

Maddox, 30, re-signed with the Lions on a 1-year, $1.48 million deal ahead of the 2026 NFL season. The 5-foot-9, 191-pound defensive back registered 32 tackles, four passes defended, one forced fumble, and an interception with Detroit last season.
