The Detroit Lions begin their 2026 NFL season on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET by welcoming in the New Orleans Saints.
Detroit is eyeing a bounce-back campaign after slipping to 9-8 and missing the postseason last year. New Orleans was just 6-11 in 2025, but there's optimism in the Big Easy that Tyler Shough can be the franchise's signal-caller of the future.
As the two teams meet on Sunday in Ford Field, here's the opening betting odds:
Lions vs. Saints opening betting odds
Detroit begins 2026 as a touchdown favorite over the Saints. Per BetMGM, Detroit is +1800 to win Super Bowl LXI, which is tied with the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles for the eighth-shortest odds to capture the crown.
According to BetMGM, the Los Angeles Rams (+300) and Seattle Seahawks (+600) are the two
favorites to win the NFC. The Lions, Eagles and 49ers all have +900 odds to win the NFC.
The Lions are the favorite to win the NFC North with +160 odds, while the Green Bay Packers have the next-shortest odds to win the division at +250. The Chicago Bears are +325 to win the NFC North, while the Minnesota Vikings are +450.
