As the NFL enters Week 8 of the 2026-27 season, where does Detroit (4-2) stand in the NFC North standings as it prepares to host division-leading Minnesota (6-0) this Sunday at Ford Field?
After a crucial 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the Lions made big news Wednesday afternoon by officially starting the 21-day practice window for safety Kerby Joseph
. Joseph has not played since Oct. 12, 2025, due to degenerative knee condition. With another massive NFC North showdown on the docket for the Lions on Sunday, here's a look at the updated NFC North standings, and a breakdown of how the other three divisional foes fared in their respective matchups in Week 7:
NFC North division standings
- Minnesota Vikings | 6-0
- Chicago Bears | 5-2
- Detroit Lions | 4-2
- Green Bay Packers | 5-3
Minnesota Vikings:
Although Minnesota's offensive efficiency remains a sore spot, the Vikings'
top-tier defense stood tall against a rapidly declining Indianapolis Colts offense, with a game-sealing interception that helped them hold on to a 16-10 win at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Minnesota (6-0) will travel to Detroit (4-2) on Sunday afternoon, where the Lions' high-powered offense will test that vaunted Vikings defensive unit in what should be a heavyweight matchup.
Chicago Bears:
Chicago's offensive firepower behind quarterback Caleb Williams propelled the Bears to a 30-24 win over the New England Patriots at Soldier Field.
The Bears now travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Monday Night Football, an interesting matchup given the Seahawks' upper-echelon defense this year.
Green Bay Packers:
While Green Bay dropped a heartbreaker last week in Detroit, the Packers bounced back in a big way on "Thursday Night Football" with a 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Jordan Love passed for 288 yards and three touchdowns in the Green Bay win over Carolina.
NFC North Week 8 schedule:
