The Detroit Lions placed running back Isiah Pacheco on injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, meaning the veteran will miss at least the season's first four games.
Pacheco, 27, dealt with a pair of injuries throughout Lions training camp. First, Pacheco was sidelined with an MCL strain. Lions head coach Dan Campbell expected Pacheco to be "ready to go" for Detroit's season opener with the MCL strain.
But, then Pacheco suffered a back injury in camp, which Campbell and Detroit seemed more concerned about.

"I can’t give you anything definitive. He is feeling better as of yesterday. It’s been a little touch and go right now. He’s had a little bit of a back (injury) and we’re hoping he’s coming out of this as of yesterday a little bit," Campbell said of Pacheco on Aug. 27.
The Lions' four opening games are versus the New Orleans Saints (Sept. 13), at the Buffalo Bills (Sept. 17), versus the New York Jets (Sept. 27) and at the Carolina Panthers (Oct. 4).
Pacheco signed with the Lions this offseason on a one-year, $1.81 million deal. It delivered a veteran back to pair with star Jahmyr Gibbs after the Lions dealt David Montgomery away.
While he has run for 2,537 yards and 14 touchdowns in his NFL career, injuries have slowed Pacheco of late. Pacheco was limited to just seven games played in 2024 due to a fractured fibula. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back also missed a month last season with a knee issue.
Pacheco rushed for 462 yards and one score on 118 carries last season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
