The Detroit Lions are ranked No. 11 in ESPN's preseason NFL preseason power rankings.
Earlier this offseason, ESPN ranked the Lions' roster as the sixth-most talented in the league.
After missing the playoffs in 2025, the Lions are eyeing a rebound and this ranking highlights an interesting split in how the franchise is viewed by the national media. There is clearly respect for the talent, but the team must prove it can regain its place among Super Bowl caliber teams.
Detroit sits below NFC contenders Los Angeles (No. 1), Seattle (No. 2), Philadelphia (No. 5), Green Bay (No. 7) and San Francisco (No. 9).
ESPN's milestone to watch for Detroit features Amon-Ra St. Brown:
The fourth-round pick from the 2021 draft will try to continue to add to his record-breaking
start as he enters this season with 547 career receptions. St. Brown can surpass Justin Jefferson (579) for the most receptions by a player in his first six NFL seasons, which could happen near midseason. The "Sun God" can also become the first player with at least 100 receptions in five of his first six seasons - Eric Woodyard, ESPN
St. Brown was one of six Lions to appear on the NFL's Top 100 Players list at No. 22, joining Jahmyr Gibbs (No. 9), Aidan Hutchinson (No. 30), Jared Goff (No. 33), Penei Sewell (No. 37) and Jack Campbell (No. 88).
The Lions' No. 11 preseason power ranking matches its slot in ESPN's post-NFL draft power rankings. Detroit was initially ranked No. 7 in ESPN's post-Super Bowl power rankings.
