The Detroit Lions' quest for the Lombardi Trophy begins on Sunday from Ford Field against the New Orleans Saints.
After a 9-8 finish in 2025 that left the Lions on the outside of the NFL playoffs, Detroit is hungry for a return to contention and to the top of the NFC North. Meanwhile, the Saints were just 6-11 a season ago, but New Orleans won four of its final five and there's optimism that it has found its quarterback of the future in Tyler Shough.
Detroit enters season six of the Dan Campbell era. Kelvin Sheppard returns for his second season as Lions defensive coordinator, while Drew Petzing comes over as Detroit's first-year offensive coordinator after a three-year stint in Arizona.
