Miami Dolphins are trimming their roster from 91 players to 53 this weekend to comply with the league's Sunday deadline, and it appears that they've made their first move.

On Saturday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Dolphins are releasing cornerback Alex Austin.

Austin, 25, joined Miami on a one-year deal this offseason after stints with the Buffalo Bills. Houston Texans and New England Patriots. He was expected to compete for a job in a thin cornerback room, but even with injuries to other players, he failed to take advantage of the opportunity.
