The Miami Dolphins are missing a big piece along their defensive line early in the season, as former first-round pick Kenneth Grant has been on injured reserve to start the year.
Grant suffered an undisclosed injury in the preseason that landed him on injured reserve as the team cut their roster from 90 players down to 53. He has to miss at least four games before returning to the field.
On Friday, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley provided a positive update on Grant's status.
"I think he's kind of grown a little bit impatient," Hafley said. "He feels better. He's eager to get going. He looks good right now. We've missed him, and that's not a knock on anybody that's out there, but we'll be excited and hopeful that we'll have him back sooner than
later."
Hafley went on to say that Grant could return as early as next week, but he didn't want to give any definites because he wants to see how the defensive lineman looks in his return to the practice field.
Miami took Grant in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Michigan. As a rookie, he played 52% of the team's defensive snaps in all 17 games and finished with 33 tackles, five quarterback hits and two sacks.
With a defense that could really use someone to help get after the quarterback and stop the run, getting Grant back could be huge for this team.
