The Miami Dolphins made one of the most surprising trades of the offseason when they sent wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos for 2026 first, third and fourth-round picks.
With the Broncos taking on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night for their first game of the season, and Waddle made his debut with his new team.
Miami's former first-round pick played 38 offensive snaps (75%), which was the second-most on the team behind Courtland Sutton, who was on the field for 39 snaps. However, Waddle's output was disappointing, as he caught just one of three targets for two yards.
In his five years with the Dolphins, he only recorded one or fewer receptions just six times, and he played less than 30 snaps in four of
those games.
Pro Footbal Focus gave Waddle a 46.9 overall grade for his efforts, which put him 95th among qualified wide receivers in Week 1.
Meanwhile, Miami used the pick that they got for Waddle to move up and select cornerback Chris Johnson in the first round. Johnson gave up two touchdowns in his debut, but he also made a few nice plays.
Waddle and the Broncos take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and Dolphins fans will surely be checking out how their former wideout does with his new team throughout the 2026 season.
