The Miami Dolphins took on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium, and Jeff Hafley's team were handed a 24-10 loss to fall to 0-3 since he replaced Mike McDaniel as their head coach.
Miami still didn't look great in this matchup, but their defense stepped up quite a bit, forcing a turnover-on-downs, an interception and a quick punt in three straight drives. The offense still has a lot of work to do, as they turned the ball over twice and turned it over on downs twice as well.
As we continue to work our way through this game. Let's take a second to look at the snap counts and see what we can take away from the playing time breakdowns for the offense and defense.
Offense
- No Caleb Douglas means spike for Malik Washington (from 73% to 86%), Chris Bell (from 41% to 71%), Kevin Coleman Jr. (from 46% to 62%) and Ryan Miller (from 12% to 22%).
- Jalen Tolbert only gets 12 plays and is largely invisible.
- De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright injuries lead to Ollie Gordon II with 61 carries. With Achane done for year, Gordon and Wright will likely split the role going forward.
- More Gordon also means more DJ Herman, who went from 29% in Week 2 to 37% in Week 3.
Defense
- Zayne Anderson appears to be completely out of the safety rotation, with Julius Wood even getting snaps over him in big nickel.
- Jason Marshall Jr. only played 67% of their defensive snaps after 94% against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.
- Chop Robinson didn't seem limited after returning from the concussion.
