The Miami Dolphins have a strong offensive line group that could be one of the top units in the league if all five guys remain healthy and play their best in 2026, but if most of them were to go down, the line could completely crumble.
Miami's top backup offensive lineman might be Andrew Meyer, who the Dolphins signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024 following a collegiate career at UTEP, where he earned All-CUSA honors once.
Meyer spent his entire rookie season on the bench and started his second year on injured reserve before coming back to make one lone start for the the Dolphins. After Meyer held his own in 55 offensive snaps against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17, he's content being a backup at this point in his career.
“I’m perfectly
happy doing whatever the team wants me; being able to sit behind an All Pro is going to help me tremendously in the long run,” Mayer told the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. “I love where I’m at right now. Aaron is the best in the league at what he does. [Watching him] helped me make strides in my game, not only to be able to watch him but pick his brain. It’s helped me tremendously. If you watch my preseason tape from year one to now, it’s night and day difference. I watched it the other day; I didn’t even know what I was doing [then].
“Just being with him two years going on three, it completely changed the way I think about football. Everything from the bottom to the top, he’s been a phenomenal help.”
While Meyer will likely sit on the bench again this year unless Brewer misses time, there are some questions about Miami's depth at guard, and Meyer is confident that he could slide to a new position and be just fine.
“I’m able to play any position and I’ll play anywhere they want me to,” Meyer said.
