The Miami Dolphins had a tough test this week, as they hosted the 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium, and that got even tougher when they lost running back De'Von Achane in the first quarter.
After an 11-yard gain, Achane was helped to the sideline and then back to the locker room. He was eventually ruled out with a knee injury.
Speaking to the media after the Dolphins eventually lost the contest 24-10, head coach Jeff Hafley provided a small but negative update on Achane's status.
"We're still gathering information, and hopefully I'll have more for you tomorrow. To be very honest with you, it does not sound very optimistic at this moment, but I can't give you any other details until I have them," Hafley said.
This is bad news,
and if it's a serious injury that will cost him significant time, the Dolphins will have to continue without one of their best players. They'd also have to rely on Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II as the top two running backs.
