The Miami Dolphins struggled to get much going offensively during their Week 1 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, and part of the problem was the lack of involvement from one of their best players.
Dolphins running back De'Von Achane played 86% of the team's offensive snaps in Week 1, but he finished with just 36 yards on 3.3 yards per attempt and four receptions for an additional 30 yards. His 14 touches are something that Miami wants and needs to change.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik echoed that sentiment.
Achane is Miami's best offensive player, and he wasn't very effective against Las Vegas. If they had found more success running the ball, or hadn't fallen behind,
they probably would've run the ball more. However, they still need to commit to getting Achane involved more.
The San Francisco 49ers, the Dolphins' Week 2 opponent, have some formidable defenders in their front seven; they have some injuries that they're dealing with. Alfred Collins, Mykel Williams, Sam Okuayinonu and Nick Martin are all on injured reserve and Nick Bosa, Keion White, Dre Greenlaw and Khalid Kareem are all on their injury report.
This could present an opportunity for Miami to ride Achane in Week 2.
