After moving on from Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier, the Miami Dolphins, under new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, turned over a big portion of their roster over the offseason.
With that came big changes in the wide receiver room. Instead of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle being the top guys, the Dolphins are rolling with Malik Washington and the rookie trio of Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman Jr. as the best options for new quarterback Malik Willis.
So far, the results haven't been great, as the Dolphins are 0-4, and without Douglas against the Minnesota Vikings, Willis threw for less than 100 yards. Adding more help at the position could be beneficial for Miami's offense going forward.
Interestingly, Bleacher
Report's Alex Kay recently suggested that the Dolphins trade a 2027 third-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Thomas, 24, played at LSU from 2021-23, earning All-SEC honors and leading the NCAA in receiving touchdowns in 2023. Jacksonville took the wideout in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he had a strong rookie season, catching 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to a Pro Bowl.
Last year, Thomas' production dipped, as he hauled in 48 passes for 707 yards and just two touchdowns, and now through four games this year, he's on pace for just 38 receptions, 446 yards and four scores.
The 6-foot-2 receiver proved he could find success in the NFL as a rookie, but with his perfromance since then, he might need a change of scenery, and Miami should be interested in adding him to the room for Willis, and/or whoever is under center in 2027.
