The Miami Dolphins were on the road in Week 4 as they took on the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium for an interconference showdown on Sunday, and Jeff Hafley's team lost 15-10.
Miami's offense had very few positive moments, but the efforts of Ollie Gordon II and Malik Washington should be highlighted.
The running back, filling in for De'Von Achane, rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 11.1 yards per attempt. Washington was the only receiver to catch more than one pass, and he hauled in all five of his targets for 67 yards.
Apart from that, not a lot went well on offense. Malik Willis finished with a 52.9% completion percentage for 85 yards, along with 11 yards on the ground. It's hard for a team to succeed with those struggles at the most
important position on the field.
It didn't help that they moved backwards several times due to dumb penalties, including two accepted (and a third called) against left tackle Patrick Paul.
Defensively, Miami showed up again. After going sackless through three weeks, they took down Kyler Murray four times and hit him eight times. That was, by far, their pass-rushing performance so far this year.
While the Dolphins kept the wide receivers in check, they struggled to stop Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson, who caught all 13 of his targets for 113 yards. He made several receptions on third downs to keep plays alive, including on the final drive to ice the game.
A five-point game in the fourth quarter, this was Miami's best chance to earn their first win this season, but they squandered the opportunity.
