The Miami Dolphins are set to begin their first practice of Week 8 in preparation for their AFC East showdown with the New England Patriots, but they'll take the field for Wednesday's session without two starters.
According to Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley, left guard Kadyn Proctor and cornerback JuJu Brents are in concussion protocol and won't practice on Wednesday after showing symptoms earlier in the week.
Proctor, 21, has started all six games at left guard and has looked pretty good for a rookie playing a new position at the NFL level for the first time. If the 2026 first-round pick isn't able to go on Sunday, Miami may have to rely on Jarrett Kingston, who played some right guard for Jonah Savaiinaea earlier this season and looked solid.
Brents, 26, has played 68% of Miami's defensive snaps so far this year, which is the third most in the room behind Chris Johnson and Jason Marshall Jr. His absence could force Jaylin Simpson, who has played just six defensive snaps so far, to be on the field more in Week 8.
There's still time for both players to clear protocol before Sunday's game, but the Dolphins may want to be extra careful and give them time to come back at their own pace.
