The Miami Dolphins welcomed the Cincinnati Bengals to Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and Jeff Hafley's team fell 31-24, falling to 0-5 to start their 2026 season.
Miami's offense was horrendous on Sunday. Malik Willis completed 55.6% of his passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. He also threw two interceptions, rushed for 74 yards and a score and lost a fumble. Even with the lack of weapons, it seems pretty obvious that he's not the guy for the future. At least the Dolphins know that now.
In the run game, Ollie Gordon II, who is filling in for De'Von Achane, had a solid day. He ran for 88 yards and a touchdown on 4.9 yards per attempt. However, Jaylen Wright continues to offer nothing in the run game, as he had 11 yards on six attempts.
Defensively, Miami was average against the run, as they allowed Samaje Perine and Chase Brown to combine for 107 yards on 4.0 yards per attempt. While they didn't find the end zone on the ground, Joe Burrow did throw for four touchdowns, as Miami continues to be torched through the air, especially by tight ends.
There were special teams problems again in Week 5. Miami surrendered an 81-yard return on the opening kickoff, putting their defense in a terrible spot. Then, late in the game, kicker Riley Patterson doinked an extra point off the uprights.
At least the Dolphins can't lose next week, as they have the week off.
