The Miami Dolphins have run the ball well since De'Von Achane suffered a torn ACL early in the year, but they struggled to keep up that trend in Week 8 against the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium.
Ollie Gordon II finished the game with 69 yards on 3.6 yards per carry, but he also had a costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the third quarter that essentially ended a drive.
While it's no surprise that Gordon was playing with a lot of energy, Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss took exception with Gordon's antics in an interview this week.
"Yeah, I definitely did not like how he presented himself last game," Elliss said. "He bothered me a little bit, but yeah, honestly, it just added fuel to the fire. At the end of the day, he's a competitor,
we're competitors, but we'll line up and see what happens the next play. All of that talking, all it does is hurt your team."
Gordon was fuming on the sideline after the call, and Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis apparently called him out for the mistake before they took the field for their next drive.
These two teams will play again in January, so we'll have a chance to see if there's any carryover from Gordon's actions or Elliss' comments.
