The
Miami Dolphins had Wednesday off before returning to the practice fields at their Baptist Health Training Complex for another three-day stretch of training camp sessions to end the week of work.
On Friday, Miami's practice was a high-volume session, as head coach Jeff Hafley described while speaking to the media before they hit the field.
Let's take a look at what happened during Day 8 of Dolphins training camp from the reports of those on the scene.
- According to the Miami Herald's Omar Kelly, right tackle Austin Jackson returned to practice after missing time with an injury. He participated in individual drills and did a single one-on-one rep before working in 11-on-11s. Safeties Dante Trader Jr. and Lonnie Johnson Jr. were both non-participants.
- Tight end Greg Dulcich continued to practice without catching the ball, as he deals with a finger injury.
- First-round pick Kadyn Proctor won every single one-on-one rep he took, per Kelly.
- Cornerbacks Chris Johnson and JuJu Brents, who are expected to be the starters at the position, both recorded pass breakups in one-on-ones, per Travis Wingfield.
- According to David Furones, Jonh Savaiinaea sprung De'Von Achane for a nice gain on the first play of 11-on-11s.
- Zach Sieler beat Patrick Paul for a sack.
- Malik Willis connected with Caleb Douglas for a big gain after the rookie beat Jason Marshall Jr. in coverage. The two connected on multiple deep passes in team drills.
- Quarterback Cam Miller beat out a Kyle Louis sack to hit wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. for a nice gain.
- Paul committed a false start.
- Sieler blew up a De'Von Achane run in the back field.
- Running back Jaylen Wright, who has had a decent camp, gave up a sack to defensive back Major Burns.
- Louis Moore recorded a pass breakup on a throw from Quinn Ewers to Tutu Atwell. Shortly after, Miles Battle intercepts Ewers on a pass off of his receiver's hands.
- Linebacker Jackson Woodard delivered a big hit on Donovan Edwards. Jacob Rodriguezdid the same against Wright.
- Cole Turner continued to flash a bit without Sims or Dulcich out there catching passes in team drills, as he hauled in a 15-yard toss from Willis.
- Linebacker Joshua Uche beat Paul for a sack.
- Tolbert dropped a pass from Willis as rookie defensive back Michael Taaffe was closing in.
- Battle intercepted Ewers again on a deep ball that he took away from Atwell.
- Linebacker David Ojabo got to Ewers for a sack.
- Gronowski threw a pick-six to Woodard, and Burns got him for an interception as well.
- Willis hit rookie tight end Will Kacmarek, who was all alone, for a touchdown on a fourth-and-2 play from the 12-yard line.
- Linebacker/safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. batted down a Ewers pass behind the line-of-scrimmage. Ewers responds by ripping a five-yard touchdown to wide receiver AJ Henning.
- Defensive lineman Zeek Biggers took down Willis for a sack in a last-minute situation.
- Defensive end Clelin Ferrell and defensive lineman Matthew Butler combined for a late-drive sack as well.
- Rodriguez broke up a pass on the final play of the session, as he rocked Wright, who was trying to haul it in.
