What is the story about?
The
Miami Dolphins fell to the Las Vegas Raiders 27-13 on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium, as they started new head coach Jeff Hafley's tenure with an 0-1 record.
Miami's offense played uninspiring football, while their special teams put their defense in bad spots multiple times, and Sean Duggan's unit also struggled to stop Ashton Jeanty at any point during this contest.
With the official snap counts coming out on Monday, let's take a look and see if thee's anything we can take away from them.
OFFENSE
- Washington and Douglas are the clear starters at wide receiver, which was to be expected. Chris Bell played over half of the snaps, while Kevin Coleman Jr. was out there for about a third.
- Miami is using a fullback on 27% of their plays. They may have to up Herman's usage to help Achane.
- Kacmarek only played 25% as well and could also be used more as an in-line blocker.
- Backup running backs both split four reps, while Wright got the lone carry of the duo.
DEFENSE
- Taaffe and Anderson were the starting safeties with Dante Trader playing the third safety role a bit. Will be interesting to see how that evolves throughout the year.
- Herring out-snapping Uche is a surprise, as the former second-round pick from Michigan was expected to be the primary rusher opposite Chop Robinson.
- Louis played just three snaps before his knee injury.
- Cornerback mix is intriguing with Johnson playing every snap, Marshall missing just four and Brents playing 38%. Wouldn't be surprising to see some of those move around as well, but even through Johnson's struggles (two touchdowns allowed), he still flashed at times (two passes defensed).
