The 0-3 Miami Dolphins take on the 3-0 Minnesota Vikings in a Week 4 contest Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins are still looking for their first win after three multi-score losses to begin the season, while the Vikings seek to remain undefeated and maintain first place in the NFC North.
Despite the rough start, the Dolphins managed some positive takeaways on defense from their most recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs. After Kansas City opened the game with touchdowns on their first two drives, the young Miami defense held them without points until the fourth quarter. Rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez showed off his elite potential with six tackles, three for loss, and interception recorded on Patrick Mahomes. This defense will now get to face
a Viking offense that has struggled to produce consistently, despite the 3-0 record. The Vikings will be without start wideout Justin Jefferson, further limiting the threat of this offense.
The Dolphins offense faces a Minnesota defense coached by defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who was head coach of the Dolphins from 2019-2021. This Viking defense also features a former Dolphins player in linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel who has three sacks, seven QB hits, an interception, and a forced fumble this season. It has been a rough start to the season for the new look Miami offense with Malik Willis at quarterback. The Dolphins will need to run the ball effectively in order to take some pressure off of Willis against a blitz heavy Flores defense. Star running back De'Von Achane is out for the season after tearing his ACL last week, making Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II the primary ball carriers out of the backfield.
