The Miami Dolphins have started their 2026 campaign with an 0-2 record while having some really rough moments through the first two weeks, but other teams around the league have really impressed.
One of those teams is the New Orleans Saints, who have started 1-1 after a win over the Baltimore Ravens and a one-point loss to the Detroit Lions in overtime in their season opener. In fact, they're even inspiring retired players, like former Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead, to consider coming back to the NFL to play for them.
"They have found their guy and will be for the foreseeable future," Armstead said on CBS this week. "I am such a Tyler Shough fan. I'm such a Tyler Shough guy. Like he is everything you want from a franchise guy. He
is the leader that you want. His accountability is through the roof, his willingness to compete, his desire to win, his desire to not lose. I'm telling you, there's no bigger fan in sports than me with Tyler Shough.
"I met him for the first time. He did 'The Set with T. Stead,' and we sat for an hour in the episode, but maybe four hours after and just hung out and talked. And when I tell you, I had never thought about coming back from retirement before this moment. sitting with Tyler Shough. Like I'm telling you every negative that happened to the New Orleans saints last year, he took ownership. It had nothing to do with him. It was before he even played... Tyler Shough made me think about going and get an injection on this knee first and then coming back and playing ball to protect this man."
While many weren't sure about Shough coming out of Louisville in 2025, he's played well in his first 13 games (11 starts) with the Saints. He's led them to a 6-5 record while completing 67.9% of his passes for 3,046 yards. 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions. So far this year, he leads the league with 662 passing yards through two games.
Miami could really use help along their offensive line right now, but Armstead would rather return and play for the team that drafted him than the team he finished his career with at this point.
