The Baltimore Ravens have acquired a new starting center ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. The Ravens traded two draft picks to Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens.
"We have agreed to trade C Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to Baltimore in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick," the Eagles officially announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Jurgens will give the Ravens some much-needed help at the center position. Former Falcons offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn won the starting job out of training camp but fractured his fibula in Baltimore's Week 3 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Falcons defensive line has been arguably the best in the NFL
this season, and the Ravens have greatly improved their chances by adding Jurgens in the middle. However, Baltimore will likely be without quarterback Lamar Jackson in Week 5.
Jackson suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 and is considered day-to-day. The two-time league MVP did not participate at Wednesday's practice, so keep an eye on his status for Sunday night's showdown at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Check back later this afternoon for the team's first injury report of Week 5.
