For the first time all season, the Atlanta Falcons delivered a victory in front of their home fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons handed the San Francisco 49ers their first loss of the season, winning by a final score of 29-20 in NFL Week 7.
Even with a 3-4 record, it's easy to see this Atlanta team is turning the corner. Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has made this offense into a dangerous unit since his return back in Week 3. Penix completed 25 of 34 pass attempts for 213 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers in Sunday's win.
The play of the game came in the fourth quarter when Falcons rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels intercepted quarterback Brock Purdy to end the 49ers' late comeback attempt. Daniels recovered a fumble a few
plays later to ice the game.
Those around the league were shocked to see the Falcons upset the undefeated 49ers. Here's how the NFL world reacted to Sunday's game on social media.

This is Michael Penix’s 3rd game with 3 TDs & 0 INTs (2nd week in a row). It's also the first time the team has won when he's posted this figure

That’s an answer by the Falcons defense. They’ve made huge plays all afternoon.

Four turnovers is tied for ATL's most in any game since 2021. What a defensive performance by a group missing some key contributors. pic.twitter.com/cZFUx8XPo6
