The Atlanta Falcons capped off a busy day with yet another transaction, signing running back Trey Sermon to their 90-man roster. The 27-year-old was drafted by the 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft but only lasted one season in San Francisco.
After a one-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, Sermon landed with the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent the next two seasons (2023-2024). The former Ohio State standout appeared in 31 games during his two years with the Colts, rushing 319 yards and two touchdowns.
Sermon spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers but only contributed on special teams. Over his first five NFL seasons, Serrmon rushed for 505 yards on 3.8 yards per attempt, while adding 22 catches for 138 receiving
yards.
The Falcons made several other moves on Monday morning. The team signed defensive end Cameron Sample, waived UDFA long snapper Phillip Florenzo, and placed offensive tackle Jack Nelson on the waived/injured list.
Atlanta also activated offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, but the team still had a roster spot available - so no corresponding move was needed to sign Sermon.
