The Carolina Panthers are expected to sign former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Casey Washington, according to a report from Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer. Washington, a former sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, spent the last two seasons in Atlanta but played sparingly.
Despite appearing in 15 games, Washington recorded just seven career catches for 108 receiving yards. On the bright side, all seven of those catches went for first downs. At 25 years old, he still has some upside.
The Falcons waived Washington back in June, but if not for the team's offseason coaching changes, he would likely still be in Atlanta. The former Illinois standout will join a Carolina team that is suddenly thin at wide receiver.

Panthers rookie Chris Brazzell suffered a torn LCL during Wednesday's training camp practice, according to a report from ESPN.
"Panthers rookie receiver Chris Brazzell II suffered a moderate lateral collateral ligament tear in his left knee in practice Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks, a league source told ESPN."
The Falcons are dealing with some injuries of their own. Tua Tagovailoa did not participate due to a minor back injury, while Michael Penix Jr. has still not been cleared for contact. Penix will be limited to 7-on-7s and individual drills in the meantime.
Atlanta also placed four players, including right tackle Jawaan Taylor and cornerback Billy Bowman Jr., on the PUP list, and placed two others -- Zach Harrison and Anterio Thompson -- on the non-football injury (NFI) list.
