The Atlanta Falcons are signing edge rusher Charles Snowden off of the Washington Commanders' practice squad, but with the roster at 53 players, somebody needs to be released to make room.
According to NFL insider Josh Kendall, the Falcons are releasing edge rusher Bralen Trice in a corresponding move.
"The Falcons are signing DE Charles Snowden off the Commanders' practice squad and releasing Bralen Trice to make room on the 53-man roster, according to a team source," reported Kendall. "Trice, Atlanta's third-round pick in 2024 and missed his first two pro seasons due to torn ACLs, played 21 snaps against the Bears on Sunday."
Trice, a former standout at Washington, suffered a severe knee injury during the 2024 preseason. He attempted to return
the following year but missed the entire season due to a setback in his recovery.
Apparently, the Falcons prefer Snowden's upside. The 28-year-old has 67 career tackles (35 solo), 4.5 sacks, six passes defended and 11 QB hits in 33 games over three NFL seasons. Snowden should provide some rotational value for the Falcons while they wait for James Pearce Jr.'s return.
As for Trice, we wouldn't be surprised to see him back on the practice squad since Atlanta still has one spot remaining. However, Trice has already been elevated three times this season, so he may prefer to look elsewhere for his next NFL gig.
