The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran quarterback Cooper Rush to their 90-man roster and released Trevor Siemian in a corresponding move on Wednesday morning. Rush joins Atlanta's injury-riddled quarterback room just in time for the start of training camp.
Since the Falcons have still not cleared Michael Penix Jr., and Tua Tagovailoa is dealing with an injury of his own, it will be Rush and undrafted rookie Jack Strand taking the QB reps to begin camp.
Rush, 32, has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, passing for 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Last season, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens and appeared in four games (two starts), however, he passed for zero touchdowns and four interceptions.
The veteran
QB can at least help get the Falcons through camp, plus he's a more accomplished passer than Siemian.
