Usually when NFL players earn a huge new contract they go out and buy something exorbitant. Fancy cars and mansions for mama are among the most popular purchases, but sometimes they go in a different direction and buy something unique.
Apparently that applies to Atlanta Falcons
running back Bijan Robinson, who signed a three-year contract extension worth a total of $66.75 million just before the season started, including around $37.56 million guaranteed. So, what did Bijan buy after his big pay-day?
According to an interview with DJ Siddiqi at covers, Robinson went out and bought a cat.
"It's such a blessing, man. To know that God brought me here, man, and to show my journey is definitely a blessing for that. But for me, the first thing I bought
was a cat. It's less than a foot, and she's 2.9 pounds. The girlfriend, we got a cat, and it's been freaking awesome. It's been awesome. I ain't gonna lie.”
If Robinson seems like more of a dog guy, you're right - he told Siddiqi that he's never owned a cat before.
“I have not. Not a cat guy. I've always had dogs, but I think just cats are easier to take care of, and it's definitely been a fun thing to get to experience.”
Fun and different - and perhaps even a little bit useful for Robinson's career. There is no animal on the planet more elusive than a cat that doesn't want to be pet. Perhaps Robinson can learn a move or two watching his new pet.
