The first two games of the season the Atlanta Falcons' offense was a one-man show. Running back Bijan Robinson performed as well as anyone could have expected, but it wasn't enough to overcome the slew of awful turnovers committed by Cooper Rush and Jack Strand.
The return of Michael Penix Jr. to the lineup in Week 3 turned things around dramatically for this unit. Penix's arm power immediately forced opposing defenses to back off, opening new opportunities for Robinson. Meanwhile, Penix re-established his lethal connection with top wide receiver Drake London, who's totaled over 400 receiving yards over the last three games.
To hear London tell it, this offense still has a lot of room to grow. Here's what he said about it earlier this week, per
Josh Kendall at The Athletic.
“The fun part about this (offense) is that we are nowhere near our ceiling. I truthfully believe that,” London said. “I think we’re going to be … hard to deal with, especially when we clean up some of these little things.”
If London is right then the rest of the NFL should be shaking in their cleats.
Going Into Week 6, the Falcons rank 10th in total offense and 13th in scoring despite getting the worst quarterback play in the league for two of their five games.
