The Atlanta Falcons had one major issue on defense heading into roster cuts, but they addressed it by trading for Chicago Bears defensive tackle Gervon Dexter. Atlanta is currently down both starting edge rushers, and while James Pearce will return following his eight-game suspension, the team knew it needed to make a move.
Dexter gives the team more size on the interior and is someone who can push the pocket. Shortly after the Falcons added the former Bears defensive tackle to their roster, they released another ex-Chicago defensive lineman.
Veteran defensive tackle Chris Williams was signed to provide interior depth in free agency. He followed Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham down from Chicago to Atlanta. Williams was released at the 53-man
deadline, but he has since landed a new gig with Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski's old team.
