The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter on a four-year, $78 million contract extension, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Dexter's deal includes a reported $46.5 million in guaranteed money.
The Falcons acquired Dexter in a trade with the Bears, sending cornerback Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round pick to Chicago before the start of the season. Thus far, the former second-round pick has been as good as advertised. Per ESPN's Marc Raimondi, the 24-year-old ranks eighth in the NFL in QB pressure rate this season.
Dexter has seven tackles (two solo), 0.5 sacks, one pass defended and three QB hits in three games this season. Since entering the league in 2023, the former Florida Gators standout has recorded
122 tackles (59 solo), 14 sacks, and 45 QB hits.

According to NFL insiderIan Rapoport, an extension "was not specifically part of the trade, but Dexter quickly showed his worth." And just like that, the Falcons have locked up another young piece - this time on defense.
First-year general manager Ian Cunningham has already extended Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson and Matthew Bergeron in just a few months of work. Perhaps the team could share some of that love with Pro Bowl safety Jessie Bates III next.
