Through two games the Atlanta Falcons have the worst scoring offense in the NFL, averaging just eight points per game. Assuming the Los Angeles Rams can score at least 10 tonight against the New York Giants, the Falcons will be alone at the bottom of the pile.
Their quarterback situation is horrendous, their offensive line is not performing like it should, and Atlanta's star pass-catchers are getting left out to dry in the process.
The only bright spot for this unit has been running back Bijan Robinson, who managed to total 72 rushing yards and average 4.5 yards per carry against the Carolina Panthers in Sunday's 31-point loss. Robinson chipped in another 16 yards on two receptions.
In the process, Robinson passed a huge career milestone - according
to ESPN - reaching 4,000 rushing yards faster than any player in league history except for Colts star Jonathan Taylor and Josh Jacobs of the Packers.
"Bijan Robinson surpassed 4,000 career rushing yards Sunday (72 yards) and is now tied for the second-fastest player to reach that mark (53 games) in NFL history, behind only Colts RB Jonathan Taylor. Robinson is tied with Josh Jacobs. Robinson is also now the fastest Falcons player to reach that total."
Robinson's output was impressive given the situation - that being the Panthers knew full well that the Falcons were going to run the ball to avoid any more turnovers from their quarterbacks. He also had very little push from Atlanta's offensive line to work with.
Unfortunately, even a Hall of Fame effort from Robinson is not going to move the needle much given how poorly the Falcons QBs are playing right now.
If Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa can't suit up on Thursday night against Green Bay, this season is toast.
