It was not difficult to see who the best player on the field was last Thursday night. As the Atlanta Falcons dismantled the Green Bay Packers in their first home-opener loss in 14 years, running back Bijan Robinson could be seen juking and punking and rolling over practically every Packer who tried to tackle him.
By halftime Robinson already had a statline worthy of an All-Star, totaling 111 yards on the ground plus a touchdown. By the end Robinson had racked up an absurd 194 rushing yards and two scores while averaging 6.7 yards per carry.
Afterwards, Robinson earned some rare praise from teammate Drake London, who predicted that one day Robinson will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame - per Josh Kendall at The Athletic.
“He’s going to be a gold
jacket wearer,” London said. “It’s really, really cool. Just blessed to be part of something like that. It’s dope. Little me is excited (to be his teammate).”
Robinson returned the compliment when he was informed of London's take.
“He said I was a Hall of Famer? Oh my gosh,” Robinson said when London’s comments were relayed to him in the locker room. “That means a lot. Me and Drake, that’s my real-life brother. I call him my blood brother. I think Drake is a Hall of Famer, as a person and on the field.”
Robinson seems to have an extra gear that he can reach in prime-time games, which is bad news for the Falcons' next two opponents. Next Monday night they'll visit the New Orleans Saints who rank 27th against the run entering Week 4. Then they'll host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football, who rank 14th.
