The Atlanta Falcons worked out three players on Tuesday looking to fill two roster spots and one practice squad vacancy. Linebacker Drake Jackson, a former second-round pick, along with center Gus Hartwig and cornerback Dwight McGlothern each tried out this afternoon.
Jackson, 25, was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with pick No. 61 in the 2022 NFL Draft. He recorded 21 tackles (12 solo), six sacks, and one interception in his first two seasons. After missing all of 2024 due to injury, Jackson landed with the Washington Commanders in 2025.
Hartwig is a former undrafted center out of Purdue. He has never appeared in an NFL game but spent his first two seasons with the New York Jets. The Detroit Lions signed Hartwig in August but released him
just a few days later.
McGlothern is a 6-foot-2 defensive back out of Arkansas who signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2024. While McGlothern appeared in 15 games over the last two seasons, he played sparingly. His size and versatility could help if he lands on Atlanta's roster or practice squad.

The Falcons technically have just one open roster spot, but they will soon have another as they're expected to place defensive tackle Da'Shawn Hand on the injured reserve list. Running back Tyler Goodson was poached off of the practice squad by the Cowboys on Tuesday, leaving one opening.
Check back Wednesday morning for more roster news and updates from head coach Kevin Stefanski. For now, check out the Falcons' updated 53-man roster and practice squad entering Week 2.
