The cuts are in and the waiver claims have gone into the league office. The Atlanta Falcons came away with three new players off the waiver wire, boosting their depth at two of their most questionable positions going into the 2026 season.
According to Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, the Falcons claimed the following players:
- LB Yasir Abdulla (from Jaguars) - Louisville
- LB Jared Ivey (from Seahawks) - Mississippi
- OT Cameron Williams (from Eagles) - Texas
At linebacker, we know that Divine Deablo is going to start after his breakout 2025 season - and he'll be taking over the green dot role from Kaden Elliss, who's back with the New Orleans Saints. However, we still don't really know who will be starting at the other off-ball linebacker spot next to him.
Candidates include free agent pickup Christian Harris, rookies Kendal Daniels and Harold Perkins Jr. and veteran backup JD Bertrand.
Adding Abdulla and Ivey to the mix gives head coach Kevin Stefanski both more depth and more options.
As for Cameron Williams, the Falcons likely see him as a stop-gap at right tackle, where the situation isn't great. Wanya Morris was one of the players they let go yesterday and Jawaan Taylor missed most of the off-season, then put in a penalty-plagued preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday night. Williams will likely compete with rookie Ethan Onianwa for the RT2 spot.
The Falcons will of course have to let three players go in order to make room for these guys. Our best guess is that veteran quarterback Cooper Rush will be one of them.
