The Atlanta Falcons have the makings of an elite offense, but before Week 3, they sure weren't playing like it. Then once Michael Penix Jr. returned to the lineup for Thursday night's game against the Green Bay Packers, everything changed.
Penix's return gave Bijan Robinson more room to run, and he made good use of it in Green Bay. Robinson rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 19 receiving yards to go over 200 total in Week 3.
While the Falcons running back has been playing well all season, Thursday's monster performance made him the NFL's rushing leader with 349 yards. Robinson has 59 more rushing yards than Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker.
However, Walker and the other running backs haven't yet played their Week
3 matchups, so Robinson likely won't still be in the lead at the end of the day. Let's check out the NFL's top five leading rushers entering Sunday's slate of games.
NFL rushing leaders
- Bijan Robinson: 349 yards
- Kenneth Walker: 290 yards
- Derrick Henry: 212 yards
- Jahmyr Gibbs: 208 yards
- James Cook: 192 yards
Walker will face the Miami Dolphins on the road in Week 3. Henry and the Baltimore Ravens will face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Gibbs and the Detroit Lions will face the New York Jets. Lastly, Cook and the Bills are set to face the Los Angeles Chargers.
